Clear Solid Polycarbonate Sheet

Polycarbonate glazing sheet is a high quality and versatile material that has many common uses apart from glazing. Our Polycarbonate is UV protected on both sides, has 90% light transmission (i.e. as clear as glass) and is 200 times stronger than non-toughened glass at half the weight. As a result of our cut-to-size secondary glazing site we have regular offcuts available at discounted rates in 2, 3 and 4mm sheet thicknesses. Here are some of the common uses for Polycarbonate sheet:

Display Cases

The clarity, strength and UV resistance of Polycarbonate make it an ideal material for display cases, for model cars, jewellery, museum exhibits and other small but valuable or decorative objects. Easy to work and bond, Polycarbonate sheet is an ideal material for exhibiting under cover.

Greenhouse Glazing

Greenhouse Glazing

Greenhouses often use the cheapest plastic glazing material, Styrene, which is relatively easy to break and prone to discolouration as it lacks UV stabilising. Polycarbonate sheet is an excellent replacement, not just because of the UV protection it affords but also as vastly superior strength is achieved without increasing the thickness of panels. Tubeway now stock packs of replacement greenhouse panels in 2mm Polycarbonate sheet. These are ideal because they are so strong and completely see-through. Craft Frames

Many arts and crafts use glazed frames to neaten and protect the handiwork. Polycarbonate sheet, with UV protection, is ideal for the hobbyist and craftsperson.

Cold Frames

Cold frames are less formal structures than greenhouses, as they can have metal, wooden or straw frames and bases, but still need robust clear glazing to let light through to the young plants being nurtured.

Picture Frames

Traditionally using thin and vulnerable glass or Styrene, it is easy to break picture frame glazing. Polycarbonate sheet affords significantly better protection both physically from breakage, and against fading in the sunlight.

Machine Guards

Machine Guards

When safety is paramount, Polycarbonate sheet is far and away the best material for guarding machinery, because of its clarity and strength. It is also easy to work into shapes, either cold or thermo formed.

Boat Windows

Strength and clarity make Polycarbonate glazing sheet the obvious choice for boat and yacht windows alike.

Polycarbonate glazing for race cars is shatter proof, strong and lightweight, meeting motor sport regulations standard and also being suitable for road use.>

Miscellaneous Polycarbonate Uses

In addition to the above, clear solid Polycarbonate has many other commercial uses, mainly because of strength, clarity or a mixture of both. Examples include:
  • Visors and Goggles
  • Motorcycle Windshields
  • Feeding Trough Covers
  • Vandalproof Bus Shelters
  • Police Riot Shields
